A Summary Of the Newest

Keeping up-to-date with my blog has been a lot harder than I had imagined. Actually, I was going to put it off again tonight, but after Josh Evans had mentioned it to me I figured I could take an hour to sit down and review what I've experienced within the past month.

Oh, where do I start? What's new? Well, I read so much more now than I ever have in my life. This past Monday I sat down and read Deuteronomy, to finish my reading of the Pentateuch. It's the first time that I've read the whole thing through (the Pentateuch that is). Isn't that crazy? A 22 year-old church boy who's been saved for nine years is just now reading the foundation of God's Word. I'm convinced now that if you haven't read the Pentateuch and understood it then you're probably misunderstanding much of the rest of the Bible. Understanding Genesis-Deuteronomy brings those lyrics to mind, "I can see clearly now; the rain is gone." So much that I never had a good grasp on is now seen so much more clearly. God's Word truly is a single, unified book encompassing the story of Jesus Christ and His Father's plan of redeeming mankind back to Himself to live in an eternal state of perfect communion. And no, that's not some quote from a book or one of my teachers. It is a by-product of the solid Bible-teaching at NTBI.

Anyway, not too much has happened since my last post. Maybe I have some stories, but I don't think I will waste my blog on them. I'll just mention some things. These past two months I have fractured my foot, lived out of my car for a week in Holland (MI), had Spring Break, written a few songs, grown closer to the middle-schoolers at church, roasted coffee, completed about 12-14 credit hours with all A's (possibly one B), and I'm sure more happened.

God, like always, has been undeservingly good. Nothing in me is worthy of His faithfulness, but fortunately that's not what His character rests upon. God is who He is because He's God and His character/attributes are things inseparable from Him. I can't wait for the day when we will reign with Him in our new bodies ignorant of sin. It's as mind-boggling to think of His mercy and grace to us as it is to think that He has always existed. I'm just rambling now. It's good rambling, but I'm going no where with it.

On a side note, I'm hoping to be home around May 23rd.

I know this isn't that much, but it's something, and it's exactly what I'm experiencing right now. So I hope this is worth something to you. I appreciate you reading it and caring about me. Regardless of who you are, I love you in Jesus Christ.

Yo, I AM SO FREAKING GLAD to hear you talk about the Pentateuch that way. Honestly brother, Christians need to read through the Pentateuch at least once a year. This summer, I will begin another read through of it and I'm excited of all the stuff that God is going to teach me through it. You are in the right track dude, I'm excited man. Keep studying and loving the Lord brother.

On a side note, I really wanna hang out with you some when you get back, barring the fact that everyone else does as well. Anyways, good post and keep it up.

Glad you are reading more man! Read all you can! Glad to hear the Lord is working in your life! I will be living for the summer in PA on the 28th of May so we must chill when you get back before I leave.

A New Beginning

As a follow-up to one of my best friends' (Ben Hungerford) suggestions, I'll work on blogging more in order to keep those interested updated on the news in my life. Right now, I'm beginning a new chapter as I'm planning to head back to school in just a few days. This time, instead of an 18 year-old freshman, I'll be 22. Lots have changed since my first walk through college; self-discipline, desire, focus: to name a few. I no longer have the distraction of a freshly broken relationship of three years. I will no longer struggle to maintain a late-night job through the week. I now have a pull to exceed among my peers, and a passion to learn what I believe God has ordained me.
